xtarter ยท about
Production-grade starters and conformance tooling for JavaScript and TypeScript.
xtarter is two tools with one idea: start conformant, stay conformant, without anyone having to remember the standard.
Two tools, one standard
create-xtarter-app scaffolds new projects from four templates, each shipping Biome, strict TypeScript, Git hooks, GitHub Actions workflows, editor settings, and agent skills before your first commit.
xtarterize brings existing repositories to the same baseline. It detects your stack, previews changes with a dry run, and asks for approval before writing, so you keep control of your files.
Both CLIs are published on npm and documented on this site.
Principles
- Idempotent by contract: running a task twice leaves the repo unchanged.
- Conformance over convenience: generated configs stay strict.
- Composition over coupling: no task assumes another has already run.
- Prefer the ecosystem: existing tools first, custom machinery only when nothing fits.
